Green Line Extension Work on Winchester Street to Begin March 3rd

The following information was released by the MassDOT’s Green Line Extension Project Team:

Winchester Street in Medford to Become One Way During Construction Work

The Green Line Extension (GLX) team would like to inform you of upcoming Phase 1 project work on Winchester Street in Medford.

On March 3rd, the GLX Phase 1 Contractor, Barletta Heavy Division, Inc., will begin the reconstruction of the sewer laterals on Winchester Street and the new 30” drain line. Therefore, Winchester Street will become a one way street from Harvard Street south to Newbern Ave. During the week from 8AM to 4PM, Winchester Street will be closed to all traffic except local residents. After working hours, Winchester Street will be reopened to one way traffic.

For the duration of this construction two way traffic will be allowed on Wareham Street and Marion Street for residents only and closed to all general traffic.

Appropriate signage will be erected during these detour closings when they are implemented. The GLX team expects that this work will last for approximately three months.

Parking: Odd side street parking ordinance to remain in place 24 hours a day on Wareham and Marion Street until further notice. Alternate parking is available in the public parking lot off of Morton Ave behind Tufts field.

Please be advised that these traffic changes are necessary and will help expedite the work. Please note: School bus and trash pick-up will remain the same.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. This work is an important step in bringing the Green Line to Medford. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact the GLX Team at 855-GLX-INFO (459-4636) or at http://greenlineextension.eot.state.ma.us/index.html.
