City to Build Peace Garden in Honor of Boston Marathon Bombing Victims

The city plans to build a “peace garden” in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, according to information released by Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn’s office.

The Peace Garden, which will cost $1 million, will be located next to the Hyatt Place Hotel in Medford Square. It will have a path with bronze plaques signifying milestones along the Boston Marathon route, such as Heartbreak Hill. The finish line will be the Peace Garden itself, which will include five fountains, one for each of the victims- Medford’s Krystle Campbell, MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, BU student Lingzi Lu, and 8-year-old Martin Richard- and one in honor of everyone who was injured. The garden will also have Krystle’s favorite flower, the Sunflower.

More details will be released at a press conference at noon on Friday, April 11 outside of the Hyatt.
