The Medford High School girls varsity softball team went 2-1 in their most recent games to improve their overall record to 3-2.

On Thursday afternoon, the Lady Mustangs came out with a strong hitting attack to back the thirteen strikeout performance of sophomore pitcher Ashley Eisnor on their way to a convincing win over the Winchester Sachems, according to Head Coach Jack Dempsey.

Junior Bailey Flynn led the hitting attack with three hits, three runs and two stolen bases. Junior Brianna Napoleone and Eisnor each had a pair of hits along with three RBI’s. Sophomore Renee Staude had two hits and three runs scored while senior captain Sarah Donnelly and junior Hannah O’Leary each delivered one hit.

The next day Medford got its revenge against Revere, a team that had beaten them earlier in the season. Friday’s game was scoreless after four innings until Medford broke it open by scoring three runs in the fifth and adding seven more in the sixth. Eisnor was in complete control, striking out eleven, walking one, and allowing just three hits in her first shutout of the season.

Flynn once again led the offense, with four hits, including a two run triple, and two stolen bases. Donnelly banged three doubles and drove home three runs. Napoleone had three hits, including two extra base hits, three RBI’s, and three runs scored. O’Leary added two hits while Eisnor had a hit and an RBI.

On Patriot’s Day Medford was over-matched against Lexington, losing 3-0. Flynn had the lone hit for the Mustangs while Eisnor allowed just four hits while striking out nine batters and walking two.

This weekend Medford will host the first annual Krystle Campbell softball tournament at the newly renovated Columbus Park.
