Mustang Baseball Team Clinches State Tourney Bid

The Medford High School boys varsity baseball team punched their ticket to the state tournament with a 6-5 road win over Reading on Thursday. According to Head Coach Mike Nestor, Medford was down four runs heading into the sixth inning. Eric Spinale (pictured warming up with catcher Justin Alley) pitched a complete game, giving up only one earned run. Spinale preserved his team’s late game rally by retiring three straight batters in the seventh. Connon McGovern had two triples. Medford is 10-5 heading into Monday’s home game against Malden.
