“Medford is pleased to be able to offer numerous and diverse programs for all ages over the summer months. Some of the activities planned include web design workshops, swimming, arts & crafts, sports camps and concerts. Very shortly, all Medford students will be bringing home a flyer directing families to Medford’s comprehensive Summer Recreation Guide on our website and a taste of what to expect this summer. Printed copies will be available at City Hall, the Library and local businesses. We appreciate the continuing generous financial support of East Cambridge Savings Bank which benefits our Park Program. It is our hope that all in our community will find something of interest in the Recreation Guide,” said Mayor Michael J. McGlynn.

Some examples of what will be offered this summer include:

The Summer Park Program, hosted at Carr, Harris, Morrison and Tufts Parks, from 9 AM – 1 PM, Monday through Friday, featuring basketball, dodge ball, bat & ball games, football, kickball and arts & crafts. Tufts Pool and Wrights Pond will offer swimming lessons as well as open swims. The Medford Family Network will host traveling park programs and the Medford Library will offer different activities and events. There are various sports camps being offered for all ages, including: Track & Field, Crew, Street Hockey, Soccer, and Swimming. Team Medford’s “First Job Academy” for teenagers eager to enter the workforce will also be available. EMARC is partnering with the City of Medford to host summer activities for physically and/or developmentally disabled youth and their siblings. In addition, full day summer camps will be offered through the Medford Public Schools and the Boys & Girls Club of Middlesex County…Plus the Medford’s Farmers Market and Circle the Square will be back.

“The Summer Recreation Guide will provide a list of all the activities and it will include dates, times, fees (if applicable), and daily schedules of everything being offered over the course of the summer. This year, citizens will be able to register for the activities online. The Guide will be available after May 19th,” said Penny Funaiole, the Director of Team Medford.
