The Medford High School varsity baseball team earned its second straight Greater Boston League title with a big 2-1 win at Everett on Wednesday. Senior Eric Spinale pitched five innings, striking out eight, allowing six hits, and giving up no earned runs. Ryan Colbert picked up the win in relief and senior Shawn Napier contributed the sac bunt that scored the winning run. According to Head Coach Mike Nestor, it has been decades since the Mustang baseball team has won back to back league titles. Medford, 6-2 in the GBL and 13-6 overall, is sharing the title with Cambridge. The Mustangs finish the regular season at Stoneham on Thursday and hope to pick up a win to ensure a more favorable position going into the state tournament.
