Koutoujian Praises Governor’s Plan to Address ‘Opioid Epidemic’

The plan put forward this week by Governor Patrick is a major step toward a collective and comprehensive effort to address opioid addiction.

At the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office we take a holistic approach to treating those with addictions. In addition to our traditional substance abuse programming we have been piloting the use of Vivitrol as a tool for those with severe, long-term addictions to opioids. Gov. Patrick’s proposal to expand the use of Vivitrol will help us to enhance our current program and assist more addicts as they work towards a successful re-entry to society.

I look forward to working with the Administration and the Legislature to implement the proposals directed toward those involved with the criminal justice system.
