InsideMedford.com was humbly launched seven years ago on Monday, July 9, 2007.
I was unemployed at the time and had been laid off from Channel 4. I was looking to do something different and taught myself how to develop websites. I eventually took a job with the Medford Public Schools. I currently am the webmaster for the school district and city and I teach web design at Medford High School, my alma mater. I’m also pursuing a Master’s degree in Technology, Innovation, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I continue to maintain InsideMedford.com as a labor of love and rely upon all of the thoughtful and interesting submissions from so many!
When InsideMedford.com first launched about 360 people visited the site, which seemed like a lot to me at the time! Now, the site receives over 40,000 unique visitors every month. I also partner with two similar local sites, YourArlington.com and CambridgeDay.com. These important partnerships- and friendships- have helped sustain this website and demonstrate how a couple of committed “townies” can cover their communities in unique ways. Alliances with the Medford Daily Mercury/Malden Evening News and Boston.com have also helped bolster local coverage.
I’m a lifelong Medford resident who is proud of all this city has to offer and I want to see it continue to thrive. Medford is a special place for all of us who call it home. Its greatest strength is its people and all they have to offer.
I’m very grateful for everyone who supports the site! Thank you for visiting the site, contributing content, advertising, and sharing stories!
