According to Head Coach Ryan Kozul, the Medford Post 45 baseball team’s victory at Lowell on Tuesday was the best game of the year.

“On both sides, it was the most well-played game I’ve seen in my four years as coach,” said Kozul.

Pitcher Ryan Covelle (Malden Catholic) once again outdueled Lowell’s Brock Riley, leading the team to a 4-3 victory. Covelle previously led his team to a 1-0 shutout victory over the top-ranked Lowell. On Tuesday Covelle pitched a complete game, striking out eight while giving up six hits and three earned runs.

The win was Medford’s fourth straight over Lowell after beating them only once before in the past fifteen years.

Dom Ramasci (Medford High) made some key plays at second place to hold Lowell at bay. He also contributed an RBI.

Brendan Greene (Winchester High) scored three runs. Medford’s Dave Center had a double and two RBI’s while Arlington Catholic’s Matt Marino also had a double and scored a run.

Medford hosts Watertown on Thursday at Playstead Park. First pitch is at 5:45PM.
