Registration Now Open for ‘Running of the Leprechauns’
Registration is now open for the 2nd annual RUNNING OF THE LEPRECHAUNS 5k race/walk followed by a festive St. Patrick’s Day Party on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Medford Elks, 19 Washington Street, Medford, MA. http://racemenu.com/RunningOfTheLeprechauns. This fun, community event is being produced by Foundation of Friends for the benefit of Boston Children’s Hospital. Your participation by running, walking, cheering, fundraising, sponsoring or attending the party will make this event a huge success!
In its first year Running of the Leprechauns had over 400 participants and winner Zach Schwartz burned through the course in 15:07. A fun day was had by all and over $13,500 was raised for Boston Children’s Hospital. This year we are proud to bring back pre-race DJ Brian Ray, Goulding Irish Dancers and the lively tunes of the Irish Band Rare Ole Times as well as our on route Bagpipers!
The 5k race/walk will take off at 10:30 am. Most will be in costume and 100‘s will line the route and cheer the runners/walkers on. First man and first woman to cross the finish line at the Medford Elks will receive $100 cash and a winners medal! Every child 12 and under to cross the finish line will receive a medal. Medal to 2nd & 3rd overall and the winner of each age group. Warm up inside after the race with Guinness Beef Stew and Irish Bread at the St. Patricks after party. There will be a cash bar & raffles. Registration for the race/walk/supporter is $32 and only $15 for children 12 and under. Fundraise $50 for Boston Children’s Hospital and you participate for FREE! Get 5+ friends to register and you participate for FREE. Register early to guarantee yourself a colorful, long sleeve race shirt.
The race will start at the Medford Elks, 19 Washington Street, turn right on Park St, right on Riverside Avenue, right onto George P Hassett Drive, take a left onto Salem Street into Historic Medford Square at City Hall, take a right onto Forest Street, left onto Lawrence Road, left onto Governors Avenue, left onto High Street back through Medford Square, right down Riverside Avenue, left onto Park St and a left onto Washington St.
