Local Author to Appear at Bestsellers Cafe Jan. 17th

Laura HoganOn Saturday, January 17 from 1-2:30pm local Stoneham author and former Medford resident, Laura Schmid Hogan, will be at Bestsellers Café, 24 High Street, Medford Square, to give a talk and sign her autobiography, “I Laura, The Story of a Kansas Family.”

“I Laura, The Story of a Kansas Family,” chronicles Laura’s amazing life journey as one of 17 children growing up on a farm in Eastern Kansas in the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s. Laura endured the hardships of the dust storms and the Great Depression with the help of her family’s strong upbringing and her faith. After decades of adversity, she emerged a survivor who thrived and became an icon in her hometown and region, as well as a well-respected businesswoman, mentor and community leader in our local area.

Laura will talk in detail about her life experiences during the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression and the journey that brought her from a farm in Kansas to a life here in Massachusetts.

At 91, Laura continues to work in real estate at RE/MAX Andrew Realty Services and make frequent appearances at speaking engagements, book signings and community events. She is a former Medford resident who lived in the city for 31 years and served as an active member of the St Raphael’s Parish and head of the CYO for 20 years. Laura is the wife of the late Daniel Hogan, the former Superintendent of Stoneham Schools, and has been a devoted community member and resident of Stoneham for over 40 years.
