Following record-breaking snow fall, the state is helping Medford clean up by providing much-needed equipment and personnel. According to information released by Mayor Michael McGlynn on Sunday, the state is loaning three Bobcats, two front end loaders, four dump trucks, and crews to Medford for the next couple of days. The help came shortly after Mayor McGlynn met with Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito on Thursday and made a request for assistance.

“I am grateful for the speedy response from the Baker/Polito Administration,” said Mayor McGlynn in a statement. “The equipment and personnel have already begun to widen streets throughout the City and in addition will go into the business districts so consumers will have access to local businesses throughout our community.”

Medford’s snow emergency remains in effect until further notice. The Medford Public Schools, with seven snow days currently added to the calendar, is not in session this week due to February vacation. According to School Superintendent Roy Belson, the last day of school is June 29, which leaves just one more day before the district would have to explore alternative options for making up time.
