Medford Teen in ‘Flat Stanley’

Molly Fenn

Where will Flat Stanley travel next? Boston Children’s Theatre (BCT) will take audiences on a wild coast to coast, overseas journey in their magical family production of “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” featuring 16-year old Molly Fenn of Medford in the role of Stanley’s mother ‘Mrs. Lambchop’. “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” runs March 7 – 15, 2015 at the Calderwood Pavilion, 527 Tremont Street in Boston.

Recently seen in BCT’s production of Fame, Julia is no stranger to the stage. She has performed with BCT in Hair and The Velveteen Rabbit and with the Watertown Children’s Theatre and Stageone Theater Company. A junior at Medford High School, Molly studies voice with BCT Private Vocal Coach Daniel Blake.

“One of the most popular characters in children’s books, Flat Stanley has become a hero to so many young students,” said BCT Executive Artistic Director Burgess Clark. “With this production we are encouraging theater goers to let their imaginations soar, just as Flat Stanley does as he travels all over the world in search of adventure and fun. We hope audience members will bring their own Flat Stanleys to the theater to experience this live stage performance together!”

After wishing on a star, young Stanley Lambchop finds himself in a very unique situation. He has been transformed into a very, very flat little boy- Flat Stanley! With the help of the postal service, his family and friends, Flat Stanley travels the world in search of adventure and fun! Taking audiences from Hollywood to Paris to Hawaii and back, “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” is filled with infectious songs, memorable characters and exotic locales.

Directed by Toby Schine, BCT Executive Director and co-directed by Eric Love with musical direction by Jaime Castellanos, “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” is based on the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown with book by Timothy Allen McDonald and music and lyrics by Timothy Allen McDonald, David Weinstein, Jonathan K. Waller and Stephen Gabriel.
