Medford has raised over $1 million for the Krystle Campbell Peace Garden, according to information released Friday by Mayor Michael McGlynn. The money raised has included both state funding and private donations.

The Peace Garden will honor all victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, including Campbell, Lingzi Lu, Martin Richard and Officer Sean Collier, as well as all survivors. It will be located in Medford Square on green space in front of the Senior Center. Fountains, bronze plaques (pictured above), and Campbell’s favorite, the sunflower, will be part of the garden.

“She’d love something like this, are you kidding?” Said Krystle’s father, Bill, in an interview with WBZ’s Beth Germano.

Krystle’s mother, Patty, said she thought a bench would be nice and that, “never in her wildest dreams did she think it would get this big.”

The Campbells will be attending a fundraiser on March 12 to support the maintenance of the Peace Garden.

More details about the fundraiser, and an online donation portal, are available on the city’s website.
