Music School to Re-Open in New Location Following Accident

A local music school is set to re-open after an unfortunate accident last fall interrupted its normal business operations.

At 4:30 in the morning on September 19, a woman accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, leading her to crash into the front of LB Music School on Central Avenue. While there were fortunately not injuries, the incident “completely turned my business upside down,” said owner Lauren Bateman. According to Bateman, she was never allowed back into her former storefront, but, with the help of local churches, she was able to “stay afloat and keep her business open.”

On June 11 Mayor Michael McGlynn will cut the ribbon on the school’s new location, which is right across the street from its former one.

“This really has been quite an adventure for us and with the help of First Methodist Church in Medford, it is really a wonderful story about how the community supported us through this tough time,” said Bateman.
