MHS Drama Club Presents ‘Guys & Dolls’ April 9 – 11

The Medford High School Drama Club is proud to announce this year’s musical – Guys & Dolls, a musical fable of Broadway, based on a story and characters by Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Students will take the stage at the school’s Caron Theater on Thursday, with additional performances Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as a matinee on Saturday.

Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys & Dolls ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950. It received nearly unanimous positive reviews from critics and won a bevy of awards, including TONY Awards, Drama Desks, and Oliviers. Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys & Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy featuring a cast of memorable characters including Nathan Detroit, Sky Masterson, Miss Adelaide, Sarah Brown, Nicely-Nicely Johnson, and Harry the Horse, among others. Guys & Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.

Tickets for Guys & Dolls can be purchased at the door before each performance. Prices are $6 for students and $12 for adults. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. for the evening shows and 2:30 p.m. for the Saturday matinee. For further information email Sarah Grant at sgrant@medford.k12.ma.us.
