My husband and I are life-long Medford residents, combined both families have lived in Medford well over a half century. The Miles’ grew up in the Lawrence Estates, I have 7 siblings. The Kreatz family grew up in the Fulton Heights and my husband has 10 siblings. The Miles’ and Kreatz families attended Medford Public Schools: Miles’ going to the Wait Elementary School, Brooks Jr. High, and graduating from Medford High School. The Kreatz’s went to the Davenport School, Roberts Jr. High and graduating from both Medford High School and Medford Vocational High School. The Kreatz family has been serving the city of Medford Fire Department for over a half century. My Father in Law John Kreatz and Brother in Law both retired from the Medford Fire Department. Currently serving on the Medford Fire Department are two brother–in- laws, one who is a Lieutenant and two nephews.

I’m a proud graduate of Medford High School Class of 1986. My husband graduated one year before me from Medford Vocational Technical High School, then serving in the US Marine Corps. Currently my son is attending the Medford Vocational High School and enrolled in the Engineering Program. I am the Chairman of the Engineering Advisory Committee at Medford Vocational Technical High School. After high school, I studied business administration at Suffolk University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1990.

I have an extensive background in business administration over the past 25 years. I have been employed continuously since the age of 15 when I got my first job working as a waitress at Brigham’s in Wellington Circle. While earning my degree at Suffolk University, I worked three jobs: Kelly Services Payroll Center, Suffolk Law School Admissions Office, & waitressed at Friendly’s Restaurant.

Immediately earning my BSBA degree in 1990 I started a new career at State Street. I began working at State Street, starting out as a Fund Accountant. Over the thirteen years I worked there, I was promoted to Auditor of Client Services and finally to Technical Specialist. In 2003, I founded my own licensed family day-care in an effort to continue to work while spending more time with my family. By 2006, when my son had entered kindergarten, I was eager to return to workforce and I accepted a job with the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System the pension plan for the Commonwealth’s Public School Educators. The plan provides retirement, disability and survivor benefits to more than 60,000 recipients and maintains and services retirement accounts for more than 88,000 active members and 10,000 inactive members. On a monthly basis, the MTRS collects contributions and related data for all active members from more than 400 Massachusetts employers.

My dedication and hard work has also be recognized by the organizations where I worked. In 1994 Nominated for Above and Beyond Award for quality customer service. In 1999 at State Street, I received the Stars and Stripes Achievement Award for my participation in the EURO Conversion and Y2K. In 2000 I received a certificate of Recognition for Distinguished Accomplishments on the Bug Tracker Team, when I participated in the development of an online system to track help desk issues know as “bugs”. And finally in 2009, I was recognized with the “Star” award for exemplary performance at the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System for my exemplary performance in accordance with the core values.
