Medford Cop Caught on Video Threatening Wrong-Way Driver

A thirty year veteran of the Medford Police Department has been caught on video threatening a driver who drove the wrong way in a Medford rotary, according to at YouTube video and multiple reports.
Detective Stephen LeBert was captured by the driver’s dashboard camera angrily telling the driver he would “blow a hole through his f—ing head.” According to Boston.com, LeBert has been placed on administrative leave.
“He’s a very effective police officer but last night’s incident that’s on video, at least that portion of the video that I saw, is troubling to say the least,†Medford Police Chief Leo Sacco told Boston.com.
The driver, Mike, a 25-year-old Malden resident, claims he accidentally drove the wrong way around the rotary on Sunday night. He said it was dark and he was in an unfamiliar area, according to information posted along with the YouTube video.
Det. LeBert was off-duty and in his own vehicle in plain clothes during the incident.

There are allot of good Medford cops, but LeBert is a piece of crap. It’s time for the Chief of Police to let him go. He’s more of a liabilty than an asset for the City of Medford.
100% Agree. I know two detectives, LeBert and Riccardi. The former, I have never heard of a good interaction with him. The latter, amazing guy, great at his job, and down to earth.
LeBert has been in CONSTANT trouble, for YEARS. The open secret is over. Did they even give him a breathlyzer? His troubles arent a secret. Seniority isnt the reason to keep him on, if youve been there for 30yrs but you suck at you job – the most important thing is that you… SUCK AT YOUR JOB. Why is he only on paid administrative leave? I love my town, but just because our citizens arent super-political and super-engaged like Somerville doesnt mean that we dont have problems with corruption and transparency. We definitely do: the favors, nepotism, and handshakes with a wink has seriously got to stop among our civil servants. Shout out to the City Council and the alcohol licensing boards.

Medford resident writes ” Did they even give him a breathlyzer?” – that is a huge question. Some people that have watched the video stated to me that they have drawn the same conclusion. I agree.
People seem to enjoy entrapment of police these days with cameras in their cars ive seen a number of these videos and also have a police officer son in another state so know the police have a tough job I also know detective lebert and have always found him professional in his duties as a side note ive seen the results of head on collisions many times and anyone who has would be thankful he stopped that car. I can’t believe you are defending this a-hole. Yes, driving down a one way the wrong way is extremely dangerous but I don’t know any drivers that haven’t been in this exact same situation: it’s dark you’re lost and/or don’t know the area well, and you don’t see the signage. It does warrant a fine. It does NOT warrant a death threat. That’s called ASSAULT. This man should not be defended for his inexcusable behavior he should be fired. He is what you call a BAD cop.
Evidently some people have trouble with true statements my comment said I’ve seen a number of videos lately of police entrapment a true statement my son is a police officer in another state true stem end police have a tough job as it is from my observations working many times with them in my opinion a true statement I have worked on incidents with Detective LeBert and always found him professional in his duty a true statement I’ve seen the results of head on collisions and the results many times unfortunately a true statement from my opinion if you seem to want ignore that and say oh it happens all the time that’s fine you can go right ahead just let me know where you drive so I can avoid that area and as a professional investigator I only saw part of a video also a true statement I don’t know what happened before that but apparently you Rebekah have information I don’t or you are clairvoyant and saw the whole incident
