City Council Holding Special Meeting Aug. 26th

The Medford City Council is holding a special meeting on Wednesday, August 26 to discuss a financial settlement sought by caretakers of the Brooks Estate.

According to information released by City Clerk Ed Finn, caretakers Adrienne Appel and John Grebe are seeking $24,000 from the city for issues, primarily the presence of lead at the historic home, which concerns the pair since they had a baby girl in 2014.

According to Brooks Estate website, the city has owned the Brooks Estate since 1942. In 1998 it became protected from development with a conservation and preservation restriction. The property includes 50 acres of land, a manor, and a carriage house.

The meeting is taking place at 6:00 PM in Room 207. City Solicitor Mark Rumley has been asked by the Council to attend the special meeting.
