Annual ‘Blessing of Animals’ Oct. 4th

dogOn Sunday, October 4th, immediately following the noon Mass at St. Joseph’s, we will be blessing animals on the plaza in front of the church.

So, please bring your animal companions – your dogs and cats, your hamsters and even your horses(!) – and join us for a special ceremony called the Blessing of Pets.

This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. St. Francis, whose feast day is October 4th, wrote, in his Canticle of the Creatures, “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.”
