The Mustang boys soccer team has once again advanced in the state tournament after winning in penalty kicks.

On Wednesday night Medford defeated Brookline 1-0 to advance to the north sectional final game with Lincoln-Sudbury. The penalty kicks were 4-2 in Medford’s favor.

Medford and Lincoln-Sudbury play on Sunday at 3:30 at Manning Field in Lynn.

This is the furthest the boys soccer team has gone since 2011, when the Mustangs lost to Masconomet in the north sectional semi-finals. The last time Medford made it to the state final was in 2003. The Mustangs lost to Ludlow after winning the division 1 north sectional and the eastern MA championships. Medford also won the division 1 north sectional in 2002.
