Joint Committee on Ways & Means Hearing at Medford City Hall Feb. 22

Senator Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville) and Representative Sean Garballey (D-Arlington) will be co-chairing a hearing of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means Monday, February 22nd at 10 AM in the Council Chambers at Medford City Hall. Hearings have been scheduled across the Commonwealth to gather information for building the FY17 state budget.

The hearing will focus on agencies within the Executive Office of Health & Human Services, with opening testimony provided by Secretary Marylou Sudders. Further testimony will be given by the heads of the following agencies: Office of Medicaid, Department of Public Health, Department of Mental Health, Center for Health Information and Analysis, Elder Affairs, Veterans Affairs, and the Soldiers Homes. The Department of Developmental Services will also be testifying at Monday’s hearing.

The last of these hearings, in which members of the public are invited to testify before the committee, will take place on Friday, March 4th at the State House.

After the hearings have ended, the House will debate its version of the state budget in late April, followed by the Senate in May.
