Medford Resident Selected as UMass Amherst Commencement Student Speaker

Elkhansaa ElguenaouiMedford resident Elkhansaa Elguenaoui, a graduating senior at UMass Amherst, has been selected as the university’s student speaker at commencement on May 6 in Amherst.

The daughter of Moroccan immigrants, she and her family moved to Medford when she was five-years-old. She graduated from Medford High School in 2012.

Elguenaoui majored in neuroscience and psychology with a minor in biology. During her time at UMass Amherst, Elguenaoui says she is most proud of traveling to Turkey, where she taught English and worked as a hospital intern, and serving as the president of the Muslim Student Association.

After graduation, she plans to work in neuroscience research and eventually attend medical school.
