State Rep Christine Barber Kicks Off Re-Election Campaign

Rep. Barber and Mayor BurkeState Representative Christine Barber kicked off her re-election campaign at a reception at Sabur Restaurant in Teele Square Somerville on Sunday, May 1. In a display of strong district-wide support, Rep. Barber was proud to be joined by over 150 Medford and Somerville residents.

Supporters for Rep. Barber’s re-election present at the kick-off reception included: State Senator Pat Jehlen; State Rep. Denise Provost; State Rep. Tim Toomey; Medford Mayor Stephanie Burke; Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone; Medford City Councilor Rick Caraviello; Medford School Committee members Paulette Van der Kloot and Kathy Kreatz; Somerville Aldermen President Bill White, Aldermen Mary Jo Rossetti, Matt McLaughlin and Mark Niedergang; and, Somerville School Committee members Lee Palmer and Andre Green.

“Christine has been a terrific partner for Medford, particularly in successfully fighting to secure state funding to improve parks along the Mystic River,” highlighted Medford Mayor Stephanie Burke.

Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone added, “Christine has been a tireless advocate for Somerville’s priorities, most notably the Green Line Extension. She is a dedicated advocate for the families of Somerville and Medford.”

Rep. Barber has been busy in her first term as State Representative, focusing on expanding the availability of affordable housing, providing services for those struggling with addiction, directing state funds to clean up Mystic River, and advocating for the Green Line Extension to Route 16. Moving forward, Rep. Barber plans to continue to work on these critical priorities for Medford and Somerville, as well as on funding for a job-training program for residents and public health reforms to improve vision screening for young children.
