State Senate Candidate Releases Donors Details for May

State Senate candidate Leland Cheung completed another strong month of fundraising. Cheung raised $19,515 in May, a 25% increase over April. Last month, Cheung asked Senator Jehlen to join him in disclosing donor names. She has refused, and continues to hide behind a, “comply with state regulations” safe haven.

“I’m amazed at how many voters want new, innovative thinking on Beacon Hill. Most people we’ve met while knocking on doors in the district have no idea who their senator is. We can do a lot better” said Leland Cheung.

“Frankly, I think Senator Jehlen has become too comfortable up there. She claims to support Bernie Sanders’ core beliefs, which includes the idea that dark money plays too big a role in our political process, yet she continues to hide behind archaic regulations that prevent transparency.”

In addition to its fundraising success, Cheung’s campaign has secured numerous union endorsements and has knocked on more than 5,000 doors since announcing in March. He’s knocked on over 2,000 doors in the month of May alone.

Leland Cheung is currently a 4th term City Councilor in Cambridge who is running for the State Senate in the 2nd Middlesex District, which represents Cambridge, Medford, Somerville and Winchester. A list of his campaign donors can be found here.
