MHS Student Takes 1st Place in NE Writing Contest

Abdi OsmanMedford High School junior Abdi Osman won first place at the New England Association of Teachers of English Writing Contest (NEATE) with his essay “My Bliss.”

His non-fiction piece stood out from over 100 pieces of writings submitted from students all over New England. According to the NEATE President Lynn Leschke “the review board was particularly impressed with Abdi’s use of empathetic language, which clearly showcased who he and his family are.”

As the first place winner, Abdi won $50! In addition, his original piece will be published in The Leaflet, the publication of New England Association of Teachers of English, as well as be announced and published in various NEATE forums.
