‘Wellness in a Busy World: Healthy Body’ July 13th

Medford Health Matters is pleased to announce a series of events to help the whole Medford, MA, community achieve “wellness in a busy world.” The first event, “Healthy Body,” will happen on Wednesday, July 13, from 5:45-7:30 pm at and around Medford City Hall.

WalkMedford, a community organization dedicated to promoting the many benefits of walking, will lead two free public walks starting at 5:45 pm. A 15-minute and a 30-minute option will be offered, both starting and ending in front of Medford City Hall. (The walks will happen rain or shine.)

Then, starting at 6:30 pm in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of Medford City Hall, Medford Health Matters will bring together four experts to help people achieve and maintain a healthy body despite the challenges of our hectic lives. Each speaker will talk for about 10 minutes, leaving time for questions from the audience. The discussion will end at 7:30 pm.

Panelists: Having a Healthy Lifestyle in a Hectic World

Lynette Desharnais, Nutritionist with the North Suburban WIC Program, will talk about how to build good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, even with the high cost of healthy food and the challenges of finding time for cooking and exercise.

Spencer Rittner, MD, takes a holistic approach to improving wellness and quality of life through physical activity, improved sleep, healthier eating, stress reduction, tobacco cessation, and other behavior changes.

Martin Dubovic, Director of Healthy Lives for the Malden YMCA, will demonstrate a brief group exercise routine to relieve stress no matter what your fitness level and/or ability.

Eleanor Moresco, MD, will discuss her interest in all facets of wellness, and how to move from physical wellness to emotional and spiritual wellness.

The panel will be followed by a Q&A with attendees.
