6 Medford Residents Part of Local Hockey Team for Bay State Games

Medford residents Bridget Flaherty, Maggie Flaherty, Ashley Morris, Patricia MacLean, Alexandra Keane, and Abigail Knight will be skating this summer in the upcoming Bay State Games for the Metro girls hockey team.

This past winter Maggie Flaherty played hockey at St. Mary’s of Lynn, Ashley Morris and Patricia MacLean skated with Medford High and Bridget Flaherty, Alexandra Keane and Abigail Knight helped lead Arlington Catholic to the MIAA division one state final.

The Metro team also includes Adrienne Ashe (Cambridge), Kaleigh Conte (Phillips Exeter), Bella Corcione (Cambridge), Bridget Crane (Arlington Catholic), Shannon Higgins (Somerville), Bella Jaffe (Cambridge), Erin King (Cushing Academy), Reid Nichols (East Coast Junior Wizards), Laura Shea (Arlington), and Grace Toner (Cambridge). The Metro team is coached by Medford High Girl’s varsity assistant hockey coach Josh Glionna.

The four day tournament starts Thursday, July 7th and concludes with a medal round Sunday, July 10th. The tournament takes place at the Foxboro Sports Center in Foxboro, MA.

The Bay State Games is an Olympic style competition held annually since 1982.
