City of Medford Named Operator of LoConte Ice Rink

LoConte Rink

It was recently announced that the City of Medford was awarded the authorization to manage and maintain the LoConte Ice Rink from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. At this time, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has authorized the City of Medford permission to operate LoConte Rink for 5 consecutive years, terminating May 31, 2021.

The Medford skaters who consider this rink a second home can now spend more time under the roof of LoConte Rink knowing that the operation will remain within our community.

“I’m pleased the City of Medford will continue the management of LoConte Rink to add to the success of our youth programs within the community,” said Representative Paul Donato. “I am thrilled that the City continues to support the beneficial opportunities the rink has to offer.”

Medford will continue to abide by DCR guidelines regarding operation, public skating time and rentals in order to support the success of the LoConte Rink and the benefit of utilizing this rink within our community.

“We are thrilled to announce that the City has been granted approval from the DCR to operate LoConte Rink for the next five years,” said Mayor Stephanie M. Burke. “The City will continue to support the hockey programs in our City, public skating opportunities for the community and additional events to be held at the rink. This was a very competitive procurement process by the DCR and we are pleased that we received the award. On behalf of my Administration and School Department, I want thank you for your hard work in this effort.”
