MEDFORD, MALDEN FOOTBALL TEAMS BREAK BREAD BEFORE BIG GAME

Before Medford and Malden compete in their 129th Thanksgiving football game the two teams met for a special pre-game lunch hosted by John Brewer’s Tavern on Tuesday.

The restaurant, owned by Medford resident and Medford High School graduate Bill Honeycutt, has invited the teams for a joint lunch since 2008. John Brewer’s, located in Malden, is home to a mural commemorating Medford and Maldens’ historic rivalry.

The two schools’ football coaches, seniors and captains, cheerleaders, principals, and athletic directors were invited to the lunch on Tuesday, as well as Medford Mayor Stephanie Burke, Malden Mayor Gary Christensen, and Medford School Superintendent Roy Belson.

Medford’s captains are Jeremy Bonina, Anderson Michel, Patrick Bien-Aime, and Tyler Belcastro.

Medford is coached by Jason Nascimento and Malden’s Head Coach is William Manchester.

Malden hosts Medford this year at 10:00 AM at MacDonald Stadium.
