Nicolas Chacon, arrested in May in connection with a series of sexual assaults in Medford and Somerville, was arraigned today at 2PM at Cambridge Superior Court.

Chacon pleaded not guilty to all charges and Judge Elizabeth Fahey ordered Chacon to be held without bail.  Chacon will appear in court again on September 5 for a pre-trial conference.

According to Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone, Chacon is charged with kidnapping, assault to rape, two counts of aggravated rape, two accounts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and four counts of indecent assault and battery of a person 14 or over.

It is alleged that Chacon committed these crimes against five women, at least two of them Tufts University students, between April 12 and April 26.

All of the assaults took place near Tufts in Medford and Somerville, mostly late at night, or in the case of one incident, early in the morning at a bus stop.

Chacon, 19, was arrested on May 4 after he admitted to the incidents of which he had been charged during police questioning.  DNA evidence also linked Chacon to the crimes.

The case was jointly investigated by the Medford, Somerville, Tufts, and Concord police departments and State Police.  Assistant District Attorney Adrienne Lynch is assigned to the case.
