Thank You from the Troops
|The following is a thank you to all of those who sent items to local troops serving in Iraq and Kuwait during the Veterans Services Office annual Operation Medford Cares.
“To the generous families, businesses and friends from Medford and the Veteran’s Association…
On behalf of the many New England American men and women who valiantly, courageously and proudly wear the American Flag with honor on their right uniform sleeve everyday in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, we salute you. We are deeply touched by your community’s generosity in support of America’s military family at war. You stand with us. Your donations to the troops are well received and truly bring a bit of home to all of us who walk the streets and patrol the desert trying to make this area of the world a safer place. America and the military are truly blessed by people like you. Knowing you care, knowing you realize America’s most precious resource, the sons, daughters, fathers, sisters and mothers, who serve this nation with pride and honor on the front lines of freedom day in and day out have your support makes up proud. Knowing and believing this means everything to us. Believing you care makes the sacrifice easier and worthy of our hardest efforts. We are proud to represent all of you; I can give you nothing but this in return…thank you. America is beautiful.
I wanted to express my sincerest thanks for your support for the troops in Kuwait and Iraq. We received several packages with letters from the city of Medford, Massachusetts and the office of Veterans Services early this morning [Sunday, August 19, 2007]. The package included many items that were useful…we distributed items to the troops in our unit and we have to say…you made our day.
One example…We were preparing for a meeting this morning and we decided to make coffee. As we prepared for the meeting, we realized we did not have any grounds for coffee and one of the men said that a package sent from Medford, Mass contained a letter and message of thanks for what we do over here. The package also contained coffee from your business [Donuts with a Difference]. Thanks to you we were able to brew coffee and it was YOU who made it happen for us. YOU are in this fight and YOU made a difference here. Every bit counts and we are greatful.
We spent the first fifteen minutes talking about you, and the many like you, who go the extra mile for us…American Soldiers…
Because of Americans like you…we know USA Cares.Â
Thank you for your heart felt concern for us as we work to win and accomplish this difficult mission.
You are a great American,
God Bless and thank you,
Sam Welch

Hello,
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your generous
donations for the troops esp the packages that were sent to my brother,
Major Sam Welch, United States Army. I couldn’t be prouder of my older
brother and all that he and the rest of our nation’s military is doing
for our country.
We are not Medford natives, We grew up in Rutland, Vermont. My
husband and I moved here 6 yrs ago when my husband finished up his
military service. My husband grew up in neighboring, Somerville. I
love Medford, MA and plan to stay here for the rest of my life. When I
heard about the Medford Cares program, I wanted to add my brother’s
name to the list. I was so happy to know that I live in a community
that cares enough to make an extra effort for our troops.
So on behalf of my husband Patrick and Myself, I would like to thank
you all for your generosity and thoughtfulness. I know my brother and
his fellow soldiers appreciated it more than you’ll ever know.
Sincerely,
Amy-Jayne and Patrick McCabe
Medford residents.
