Whole Foods Market confirmed today that Medford’s Wild Oats store will remain open as a Whole Foods Market.
Fred Shank, a spokesman for the market, said all of the current employees will be offered jobs at the new store.
According to spokesman David Lannon, Whole Foods likes the Medford location and plans to spruce it up.
The store, currently open as Wild Oats, will likely be closed for a short period of time in the near future for renovations and will re-open as a Whole Foods Market. The new store is in the design phase now.
“We will invest some money in the building. Our goal is to make it a lot better,” said Lannon.
Whole Foods Market acquired Wild Oats at the end of August. The company, founded in Austin, Texas in 1980, takes in more than $5 billion per year in sales and has more than 300 stores in the US, Canada, and United Kingdom.
Wow, that’s great news. At least there’ll still be a supermarket in West Medford, albeit an upscale one. I guess Johnny’s is still down 16, not too bad at all…
The Wild Oats will be closing around the end of October for several months while they renovate the store into a Whole Foods.
