Junior Philip Galebach and senior Aiman Kilaouy will be lacing up their racing flats again this Friday to compete in the MIAA All-State Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
The Mustang indoor track teammates qualified for the state meet at the Division 1 Championships on Sunday, with Galebach taking 6th in the 2-mile race and Kilaouy coming in 7th in the 1,000 meter run.
Galebach’s time of 9:46.94 and Kilaouy’s 2:37.26 seeded both runners at 15th in their respective races.
Top performers at the meet this Friday will then compete at the New England High School Championship meet one week later at the Reggie Lewis Center. Galebach and Kilaouy will have to place in the top six to qualify for that meet.
The rest of the Indoor Track team did not fare as well against the Division 1 crowd, which has the toughest competition in the state. Overall, the boys team tied for last place- 26th- with North Quincy High School, earning only 1 point at the meet.
Medford’s John Beckshaw earned 22nd place in the 2-mile with a time of 10:23.02. Beckshaw and Galebach were the only Greater Boston League competitors in the race. The boys’ 4 x 200 meter relay team placed 13th out of 28 teams with a time of 1:36.60 and was also the only Greater Boston League team to compete in the event.
The girls sent two relay teams to yesterday’s meet. The 4 x 200 meter relay team placed 23rd out of 26 teams with a time of 1:54.29, while the 4 x 800 relay team placed 14th out of 16 teams and ran 10:43.22. The girls did not score at the meet.
