The Medford High School Drama Club is proud to announce this year’s spring musical — the Broadway favorite, Little Shop of Horrors. Students will take the stage at the school’s Caron Theater on Thursday, April 10, with additional performances Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as a matinee on Saturday.

Little Shop of Horrors is a world-renowned musical created by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman. The show-stopping music, composed by Menken in the style of 1960’s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, tells the story of Seymour, a nerdy but endearing florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood.

Although having produced several musicals at the Andrews Middle School, this is Sarah Grant’s directorial debut at Medford High School.

“I am thrilled to be working with the Medford High School Drama Club, particularly on a such a off-beat, energetic, and entertaining show as Little Shop of Horrors. The level of talent amongst the students in the production is beyond impressive. Each of them has added something dynamic and unique to the show, and this will undoubtedly shine through at each and every performance,” said Grant.

“The spring musical is something that our school and the whole community at large looks forward to each year. We have extremely creative students and I am confident that through their dedication, hard work, and the direction of Ms. Grant, Little Shop of Horrors will be a resounding success,” said Paul Kreuger, Headmaster of Medford High School.

Tickets can be purchased at the door before each performance. Prices are $5 for students (if purchased prior to the show) and $10 for adults. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. for the evening shows and 2:30 p.m. for the Saturday matinee. For further information email Sarah Grant at sgrant@medford.k12.ma.us.
