Suspect Arrested Twice in Two Days for House Breaks
|A Medford teen has been arrested twice in two days for allegedly breaking into two Hillside homes.
Richard Almeida, 19, was arrested on Friday, June 20, at approximately 4:40pm by Detectives Dan Conway and Frank Femino after they were investigating a house break in the Hillside area. The detectives were able to identify Almeida after discovering some of the stolen items at a local second hand store. Police then caught up with Almeida and arrested him after a citizen reported seeing him in the North Street area.
The next day Almeida was nabbed by police while in the middle of breaking into a home on Piggott Road. Responding officers saw Almeida flee from the yard of the house in question toward the railroad tracks. Police conduct a quick sweep of the area and Sergeant Cesar de la Torre and Officer Michael Alpers apprehended and arrested Almeida after finding him hiding beneath a porch in the backyard of an Orchard Street home.
Almeida is charged with two counts each of breaking and entering in the day time with intent to commit a felony, larceny over $250, and receiving stolen property over $250, and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon, a double-edged knife.
There is no word yet on whether Almeida has been released on bail.
