Medford Football Falls to Cambridge
|Despite Loss, Mustangs Continue to Show Improvement
– Allison Goldsberry
Medford’s 35-13 loss to Cambridge and its 0-9 season record do not accurately reflect the hard work of the team and the improvements they have made throughout the season.
Two straight seasons without a head coach and negative news headlines have no doubt taken their toll on the team. However, the Mustangs continue to improve each week and even if they finish the season without winning a single game, they will walk away as a better team.
The Mustangs put in a strong effort against Cambridge last Friday. Junior quarterback Alex Krasco continued to show he knows a thing or two about throwing the ball, with senior Giovani Sanders scoring on a 70-yard pass in the first quarter. Senior Rodrigo Alegre followed up with a solid kick to put the Mustangs on the board.
Medford followed up with another touchdown in the third quarter after recovering the ball on a Falcon fumble. Junior Joe Aufiero sacked the Falcon’s quarterback and senior captain John Sousa recovered the ball deep in Cambridge territory, setting up junior captain Mike Sullivan to score on a 5-yard run.
The Mustangs face Malden Catholic on Friday in their final home game of the season before heading to Malden for the annual Thanksgiving Day game.
