Tufts Teacher Recognized by National Magazine

New Magazine Features Best Practices for Teachers Who Educate Young Children

David Robinson, a veteran teacher at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited Eliot-Pearson Children’s School at Tufts University, has been recognized for his achievements as an early childhood educator by being featured on the cover of NAEYC’s Teaching Young Children (TYC).

“We are pleased to feature David Robinson on our cover. He is a thoughtful, creative educator who helps children to explore their world through play, projects, and hands-on experiences,” said Derry Koralek, Editor-in-Chief of TYC.

Robinson is one of a series of excellent educators chosen to be featured on the cover of TYC since last fall when the magazine debuted. TYC is distributed to nearly 20,000 readers nationwide. Each issue of the magazine provides useful, research-based ideas that preschool teachers can use in their work with children and families. TYC is also available in Spanish as Tesoros Y Colores.

Robinson, who has been in the education field for nearly 20 years, became a teacher because he was drawn to the “intellectual vigor” of teaching young children. He also says he enjoys teaching in a laboratory school setting because it gives him the opportunity to try new strategies and ideas.

A self-described “reflective” teacher, Robinson also uses his experience to train the next generations of teachers. He mentors and supervises Tufts undergraduate and graduate students who work and volunteer in his classroom.
