Police: Don’t Let Water Inspectors into Home
|Fake Water Department Workers Attempting to get into Medford Homes
The following statement is from the Medford Police:
On Dec. 30, 2008 we had three separate incidents of persons posing as water department workers trying to get into homes. In all of these incidents, the perpetrator entered the home and let another person in. While acting as they are checking out the water flow and various pipes, they manage to make their way around the home and steal various items.
Please make the public aware that they should not let anyone in their home that does not have proper ID. You should also call the company that they claim to represent to verify who they are and if they should be at your house. If they try to pressure you into letting them in by claiming to be very busy and they claim to have been in and out of houses in your neighborhood, make them wait until you verify who they are. Always call the police when you think someone is trying to convince you to let him or her in your house. The only strangers that should be entering your house in an emergency are Police, Fire, and medical personnel.
Excellent advice – thanks!

Interesting story! Just another way for people to scam their way into homes.
