MSPCA Seeks Owner of Stray Husky Hit by Car
|Driver Brings Dog to Hospital, Pays for Treatment
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) is seeking the owner of a stray Husky who was hit by a car in Medford on Saturday, March 21.
Unlike many past hit and runs, the driver who accidentally hit the Husky immediately sought police and medical assistance for the injured dog. After finding that there were no available local options to treat the injured Husky he quickly drove her to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, where the dog, nicknamed Sasha by the hospital staff, received immediate emergency medical attention.
“Unfortunately it is all too common for drivers to accidentally hit a dog and flee the scene to the detriment of the animal. The quick thinking that his driver possessed, as well as the empathy he showed, meant that Sasha was receiving life saving medical attention shortly after this accident,†said Dr. Kiko Bracker of Angell Animal Medical Center’s Emergency/Critical Care service.
In addition to the driver’s quick thinking, the Medford resident also agreed to pay $1,000 to cover a portion of the cost of emergency medical treatment as well as X-rays. Sasha is currently recovering from injuries to her hip and front legs which will require six weeks of kennel rest. She is currently being cared for by the doctor who is in charge of her case until her owner or a more permanent home is found.
If you or someone you know has information regarding Sasha or her owner, please call the MSPCA-Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center at (617) 541-5025 to leave a message.

I hate when people don’t fess up to their actions and don’t take responsibility. Hit and runs are a consequence of that. We need to teach our kids to take responsibility.
