Students, Teacher Win Computers for McGlynn
|Contest-Winning Essay Earns 7 Free Computers for School
The McGlynn Elementary School is the recipient of 7 brand new computers, thanks to Computer Teacher Simone Elias and 153 students.
Led by Elias, the kids submitted essays to Kaspersky Lab about why the McGlynn deserved new computers and how the computers would maximize their learning at school. Fifth grade student Jayant Sharma wrote the essay that convinced Kaspsersky to give the computers to the school.
Kaspersky Lab and WBCN created Touchdowns for Technology, where Kaspersky Lab donates one computer for every touchdown the Patriots scored in the 2008-2009 regular football season. The total number of computers were divided equally and donated to several schools across New England.
The computers have large monitors, are fully loaded with Microsoft Office, and will have 3 years internet security provided by Kaspersky Labs. Kaspersky presented the computers to the McGlynn School last week.
Sharma is pictured above with the computers, flanked by his father, Davinder, Elias, and his fifth grade teacher, Anthony Petrelis.
