Medford Police Nab Suspect in Armed Robbery
|Suspect Allegedly Stole Victim’s iPod, Fled on Bicycle
A Boston teenager did not get very far after allegedly robbing a victim’s iPod at gunpoint on Tuesday.
Ahmad Abdullah, 18, of Boston, approached the victim on a bicycle around 4PM on Tuesday afternoon right outside the Brooks Elementary School on High Street in West Medford and allegedly demanded his iPod Touch after showing him a gun tucked into his waistband.
The victim called police a few minutes after the robbery occurred and described the suspect as a black male wearing a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, a white t-shirt, and a black Red Sox baseball cap. Officer Shawn Norton saw three black males riding bikes on George Street, one of whom matched the description of the alleged suspect. Officer Norton turned his cruiser around and attempted to talk to the group. Two of them fled but Officer Norton and other officers were able to stop Abdullah and gather enough evidence to arrest him for armed robbery.
