Medford Police, Fire to Honor September 11

Special Ceremony Planned for Annual Public Safety Softball Game Friday Night

Tonight’s Annual Public Safety Softball Game between the Medford Police and Medford Fire Fighters will be more than just a friendly competition.

A special ceremony before the game will honor those who have lost loved ones in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In addition, novelty T-shirts will be for sale and proceeds from the game will be donated to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund. The fund provides educational assistance, as well as mental and physical health care assistance, to the children of victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks and other terrorist attacks.

A uniformed New York City Police Officer will be at the game, along with the Honor Guards from the Medford Police and Fire Departments.

The special ceremony will take place at 6:45PM, followed by the game at 7PM at Tufts Park in South Medford.
