Medford Rising Star Auditions Saturday, October 3

The following is an announcement from the Medford Rising Star committee:

Last October, nearly 800 people packed the Chevalier Theater to see 27 finalists compete for the first city-wide talent show, Medford’s Rising Star. Since the event was such a success, the Jingle Bell Festival Committee will be offering the program once again this year.

Medford’s Rising Star Committee member, Mike Silvia, said, “Last year, contestants auditioned for finalist slots in three age groups. Most of the contestants were vocalists, but there were dancers, instrumentalists, and even a juggler.” He continued, “We hope to see even more remarkable local talent at this year’s auditions.”

Auditions will be held at Medford High School on Saturday, October 3 beginning at 10:00 AM. Admission to the audition will be $3.00 for non-contestants. Contestants will compete in three age groups: 8-11 years; 12-15 years; and 16 years or older. Selected finalists will be eligible to compete in the Grand Finale to be held at Tufts University on Sunday, October 25.

Registration forms are available at www.medfordrisingstar.org or Lonergan Insurance and Real Estate at 74 High Street in Medford Square. Contestants registering after September 16 will not receive the official audition time and contestant number until the day of the event. In addition, registrations received after September 16 will be subject to a late registration fee.

Silvia concluded, “Medford’s Rising Star raised thousands of dollars in 2008, which helped Medford’s Community Family continue to provide critical adult day care services to the community.”
