AC Girls Cross-Country Stays on Top

The Arlington Catholic Girls Cross Country team soundly defeated Bishop Fenwick by a score of 17 to 46 to stay undefeated in the Catholic Central League.
The Cougars are in sole possession of first place with only one league meet remaining against 2nd place Marian of Framingham. The AC Girls can finish no worse than a tie for the League title.
Once again the Cougar girls were led by senior captain Corinne LaVassuer (Melrose), who finished first with a time of 22:05 at the difficult Menotomy Rocks Park 3-mile course. Sophomore Brigid Kirkpatrick (Medford) placed second, with freshman Janelle Solviletti (Billerica) third, sophomore Mary Stanton (Woburn) fifth, junior Lauren Reis (Arlington) sixth, senior Harriet Gabbidon (Malden) seventh, senior captain Bonnie Ferreira (Somerville) eighth, sophomore Becca Gonsalves (Woburn) ninth, and Senior captain Linda Buehler (Woburn) twelfth.
The boys’ hopes for an undefeated season came to an end at the hands of a strong Fenwick squad by a score of 22 to 35.The Fenwick Boys remain undefeated.
The AC team was led by freshman Kevin Connors of Belmont, who finished fourth with a time of 18:03. Junior captain Joe Donlon (Stoneham) placed fifth, sophomore Kyle Liberti (Medford) sixth, sophomore Chris Laffey (Billerica) eighth, junior Andrew Cohen (Waltham) twelfth, sophomore Nolan Hart (Medford) thirteenth, and senior Jon Mancini (Arlington) fifteenth.
The AC boys and girls will be competing in the Catholic Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston and complete the regular league meet schedule on Tuesday at Marian in Framingham.
