School Committee Candidate Robert E. Skerry, Jr.
|Robert Emmett Skerry Jr. has announced that he is a candidate for re-election to the Medford School Committee this November.
Skerry stated that he wants to put his years of experience to work for you and the children of Medford.
Medford has vastly improved its’ standing among public schools in the area by building modern school houses equipped with modern necessities to allow our children and staff to flourish in the best educational setting possible.
The gravity of changes to education in Medford requires a strong and steady hand on the school committee. “My experience, drive, presence and commitment to the Medford educational community enables me to do the job and do it right.” I would not expect anything less for the young minds attending our schools,” said Skerry.
Education is the cornerstone of a prosperous community and in Medford, I will place the highest priority on giving our young citizens every chance to achieve their dreams. My school board experience thru good times and bad gives me the perspective and skill to fix problems, provide remedies and further enhance the successes students have achieved in the past, present and will continue to do so that an education attained in our schools permits our youngsters to compete socially, civically and successfully in our 21st Century global economy.”
The school budget is the framework upon which successful educational programs are built. Across the nation, financial failings are registered daily, but we in Medford are working hard to insure the hard earned dollars of Medford’s taxpayers are used to their full potential and that sound education programs and class size limits are in place and enforced.
- I will scrutinize expenditures to assure school funds are used prudently on behalf of and benefit our students in a timely fashion.
- I will continue to advocate and be the voice for sensible programs that give Medford’s children the ability to flourish and succeed in todays’ world, compete for jobs, complete advanced education and continue life long learning after high school to be prosperous and civically minded.
- I will require new programs to substantiate their effectiveness before funding and implementing them. We will work to increase public-private partnerships and expand community relations with institutions of higher learning.
- I will continue to fight to advance educational strategies to support students throughout their schooling and maximize the number of students who graduate from Medford High prepared for the future. I have not been afraid to instill in the current school administration that we shall continue to provide remediation programs so that no student is denied his or her high school diploma.
- And, as always I will bring concerns of parents and students to the school committee table.
- Parent involvement is an integral part of a childs’ life and I believe that parents and schools should work in unison to foster the best education possible for our children, while parents in a nurturing and adversarial role must understand they cannot undermine the goals and objectives of our professional educators.
- Our PTO’s and school councils work very hard for our children and I continue to foster and encourage their endeavors on behalf of our children.
- As a member of the school committee I am never afraid to speak my mind and against frivolous spending and personnel appoints not in the best interest of the community. I continue to demand accountability of our school personnel and strongly believe in the professional development of staff and personnel.
- We must continue to strive for academic excellence and MCAS mastery by offering advanced tutorials in Math, Science and English for all students to insure proficiency and mastering their studies.
- Medford is a diverse community and all our children’s needs must be addressed through the implementation of a curriculum tailored to our childrens needs’ and abilities to successfully complete state mandated testing.
- The ideal educational programs of the future in Medford will insure students they will be ready to start school and continue their educational journey to conclude with the continuum on preparing our children to graduate high school with attainable goals, career readiness and a life long thirst for continued learning.
In summarizing my candidacy for the school board, I will remain committed to the children and residents of Medford and ask for one of your six votes on November 3rd.
Also, we as adults, owe it to our children to provide for them the tools they will need to face the demands of adulthood. I will work hard to insure the educational interests of our citizens are brought forward in city government when elected in November.
Remember, your one Vote counts!!
I think MCAS Sucks
