Mustang Football Grabs 1st GBL Win
|Medford Hosts Somerville at Hormel Friday, Wins 14-7

After five weeks of non-league competition, Head Coach Rico Dello Iacono and the Mustang football team officially opened up the Greater Boston League season with a 14-7 victory over Somerville on Friday.
Senior Phil Chery ran for one touchdown and kicked an extra point and senior Antonio Ortiz also scored a touchdown for the Mustangs. Medford’s defense did a great job holding off the Highlanders and kept them scoreless for two quarters.
Medford is 3-3 overall and is 1-0 in the GBL. Malden is currently 1-0 in the GBL and 3-4 overall with its victory over Cambridge (0-7) on Saturday, while Everett is 3-2 overall and opens up its GBL competition when it hosts Medford on Friday, October 30. Somerville is now 2-4 and 0-1 in the GBL.
The Mustangs will take on pigskin powerhouse Everett on Friday, October 30 under the lights in enemy territory, which is the former home turf of Coach Dello Iacono.
Medford heads to Cambridge on Friday, November 6 and hosts Ipswich Friday, November 13 and Malden for the annual Thanksgiving Day showdown on Thursday, November 26.
