Buckeyes 6, Eagles 4 – Rhiannon Arnold scored all six points to lead the Buckeyes past the Eagles, 6-4. Arnold recorded two field goals in the final three minutes of the first half, including one in which she was fouled on and then with just 1:33 remaining in the contest she snapped a 4-4 tie for the Buckeyes (2-0). Mya Matarazzo also had a solid game for the Buckeyes by playing good defense, grabbing rebounds and getting good looks at the basket. Courtney Chagnon scored off the opening tip and Nicole Matarazzo netted a field goal with 50 seconds remaining in the first stanza for the Eagles, who fell to 1-2 on the year.
Crush 14, Red Storm 5 – After leading 4-2 at halftime, the Crush cruised past the Red Storm, 14-5. Emma Cline netted all eight of her points in the second half surge. Abigail Cline recorded a pair of field goals and Abby McCarthy played another solid game for the Crush, who improved to 2-1. Destiny Fitzgerald scored all five points for the Red Storm (0-2), who were a little shorthanded with just six players.
Senior League (grades 6-8)
Nets 24, Angels 12 – Nicole Regan lead the way for the Nets, scoring a team-high 10 points en route to an easy 24-12 victory. Regan scored three consecutive field goals in the second half for the Nets, who registered their first win of the season. Sisters Rebecca and Emily Peirce combined to score 11 points for the Nets, who led 14-2 at the break. Kelly Foley scored all 12 points for the Angels, including a pair of three-pointers late in the game. The Angels, with just six players, never really mustered an offensive flow.
