Mustang Hoops Puts in Strong Effort Against Crimson Tide

Medford Falls to Everett, 50-38

Head Coach Anthony Faradie and the varsity boys basketball team opened up the Greater Boston League with a loss to Everett on Tuesday.

The Mustangs, now 4-3, put in a strong effort against Everett, who is ranked 5th in the state.

Coach Faradie said the team did a “very good job defensively and rebounding the basketball.” Medford held Everett’s star, Nerlins Noel, to just seven points. Matt Costello and Dequan Smith each had 13 points for Everett while senior Mustang captain Andrew White scored fifteen points.

White was again the offensive leader for Medford, but the rest of the team did not produce. Coach Faradie said the team just “couldn’t get going offensively.”

“We could not find the basket offensively and shot the ball poorly from the field and at the line,” said Faradie.

The GBL is strong in boys basketball and Medford will head into the heart of its GBL competition in the next several games. Up next for the Mustangs is Somerville at home on Tuesday, January 12 at 7PM. Medford then hits the road and heads to Cambridge on Friday, January 15, Malden on Tuesday, January 19, Everett on Friday, January 22, and Somerville on Friday, January 29. They’re back home to host Cambridge on Tuesday, February 2 and Malden on Friday, February 5.
