Free H1N1 Flu Clinic Saturday at Medford City Hall
|‘Unlimited’ Supply of Vaccine Available
Medford is holding a free H1N1 vaccine clinic on Saturday, January 9 at Medford City Hall.
The clinic will run from 10AM-1PM in the Council Chambers.
According to information released by the city, anyone can be vaccinated and high risk groups are particulary encouraged to receive the vaccine. High risk groups include pregnant women, household contacts, children ages 6 months to 18 years old, parents and caregivers of children under 6 months old, and health care providers.
Medford Board of Health Director Karen Rose told Boston.com the city has an “unlimited supply” of the H1N1 vaccine.
Rose encourages everyone to get vaccinated, as the flu still remains a threat.
“Flu comes in waves and though the [federal government] says it has waned, [people] have to remember that this all started in April of last year, not typical of flu spikes we see in seasonal [cycles],” she said. “The only protection is to be vaccinated. Once vaccinated, it takes 2 – 3 weeks to build an immunity, so if they wait until the next wave it will be too late.”
